I was eleven years old and I was the last to finish dinner so I was eating in my dining room alone. My mum, step-dad and brother were all talking in the kitchen while I was eating.
Let me just tell you that there is no door separating the dining room and the kitchen, so I could see them and they could see me.
When I finished and got up, I started to walk through to the kitchen when I saw a very bright light drop down from the roof and seem to scurry across the floor, down the hall and into my bedroom. When I saw it drop I froze in my tracks and actually shouted out, because it shocked me so much. I even nearly dropped my plate!
My family all looked at me strangely but when I explained it to them, only my brother believed me because my mum and step-dad don’t believe in the paranormal but he does.
I forgot all about it though and later in the night went to my room to go to bed. I usually take a while to get to sleep so I was lying in bed with my eyes closed when I heard my door open. I thought it was my mum just wishing me goodnight so I opened my eyes but when I did I saw the same bright light glide out of my door. The door shut again afterwards, and I was so spooked that I spent the night with my TV on, my light on, my lamp on and my tennis racket next to me in bed.
I can’t explain what I saw, but I know that it wasn’t a bug or a spider or anything because it was a light!
That was what my mum and step-dad said it was – just a bug or a trick my eyes had played on me.
I have always believed in the paranormal ever since I was a little girl, and I’m 13 now. I’ve had other paranormal experiences, but that one frightened me the most by far.

Hi Madelyn Hart
That is a lovely story. It sounds like you had a sylph in the house. Sylphs are natural elemental beings. Sylphs most usually appear to us as little lights, seemingly dancing about in the air.
Here’s a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylph
